About
Why this project exists.
The Berean Life is a Scripture-first research and publishing project. It takes its name from the Bereans of Acts 17, who heard a message gladly and then went to the Scriptures to see whether it was so.
We believe there is value in reading the original material: the biblical text in context, the dated publications of those who shaped a movement, and the record of how teachings developed. Inherited explanations may be right. They are still worth checking.
What these books set out
Much of what these books contain is rarely heard from the pulpit. It isn’t secret. It sits in old publications, records and documents that most people never have a reason to open. The authors bring those sources together, show what the familiar accounts have left out, and set the evidence out as it was written.
They do not ask you to take their word for it. Every quotation is dated and every source is named, so you can look it up and fact-check it yourself. Our method explains how.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
The books and their authors
Every title here is meant to be read on its own merits. Each one starts from a question, sets out the evidence in full, and leaves the conclusion to the reader.
Mario Pelser
Mario Pelser writes Scripture-centred books for readers who want to test what they have been taught against the Bible itself. Some are written for any Christian. Others examine doctrine and belief for Adventists. His subjects include prophecy, discernment, the fate of the lost, Christ’s indwelling presence, the Godhead and the sanctuary. Each book begins with a question, reads the text in context, and sets out the reasoning one step at a time. He writes plainly, for readers with no theological training.
Michael J. White
Michael J. White writes historical investigations into the Adventist movement. His books follow the dated publications of the pioneers and trace how particular teachings developed over time. The original sources are quoted directly, so every citation can be checked. The aim is to document: what was written, when, and by whom.
